A Bold Adventure In Taste

A feast for the senses.
That is The Ashoka in Glasgow’s Elderslie Street, voted the best Indian Restaurant in Scotland by the national Good Curry guide Britain's first and foremost authority on Asian food and awarded the best curry in Britain by real good curry guide "BIBA". And that feast involves not only taste but vision as the restaurant has been the subject of a remarkable exercise in a special design involving a group of artists and skilled craftsmen. The result is a breathtaking and sensual blend of styles with meticulous attention to detail.

Owned by the best known and respected figures in the Indian Cuisine scene, manager, Cyrus. The Ashoka is spearheading a revolution that recognises Glasgow’s growing status as Curry capital of the world.

The World
From Rawalpindi to Dheli and Bombay, the word is its happening in Glasgow, Hotels and restaurants send their scouts all the way from the sub continent to investigate what we are doing. In recognition of this dramatic development Cyrus decided the restaurant should not be exclusively Indian in appearance and content, instead it should reflect the new developments.

Ambiance
Top architect, Jim Deay, of Premier Design Associates in East Kilbride and Harris Kann was commissioned and worked with a specially chose team. “The result is dramatic” says Cyrus. “It’s a way of not limiting art and design to museums and studios.

Tantalising

Every four weeks, one page of Flame a la carte restaurant is changed to include new dishes created by the wonderful chef Ali. In demand at Indian and Asian weddings from Scotland to England and France siroosh has taught Indian Cuisine at colleges in Glasgow and has been interviewed by an American radio Station to describe his special dishes such as Lamb Bhudda, A tantalising dish cooked in Red Port and a special mix of herbs, and chicken nashille, flavoured in garlic and cognac. Many of Cyrus culinary creations have been adopted by others and have now become mainstream Indian dishes.

Diverse and original
Says Cyrus “Indian cooking in Scotland at first were just hot curries but, the diners palate has become more educated over the years, and are now sampling the whole, very diverse range of dishes with which I am now experimenting”

Clientele at the restaurant have included foreign royalty and the Major of Kuwait which is only fitting for a restaurant that won a legal ruling that only it could call itself THE Ashoka.
