The British Curry Awards 2007 was held at the Grosvenor House Hotel last October before an audience of 1100 restauranteurs, diplomats, politicians, and celebrity guests. Tory leader Rt Hon David Cameron MP sent a special message and the event was hosted with good humour by Chris Tarrant OBE. More than 3000 restaurants started out as potential winners, having been put forward by an amazing 22, 000 nominations from members of the public. This was whittled down to 100 finalists from which were chosen the ten winners from the various regions of the UK. There were also awards for Personality of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and a special prize for Outstanding Customer Service voted for by lead sponsor Lloyds TSB Cardnet staff across the UK There is no doubt that the British Curry Awards are now established as the biggest single event for the spice industry, giving guests a chance to network with customers and suppliers, while the winners have opportunity to celebrate their achievements in front of a global audience. Moreover the various sponsors of the awards can tap into the benefits of the huge world-wide media coverage, on TV, radio and in the press, that is generated. |
